This letter is in reference to the work performance of Pike Enterprises, Inc. dba Mountain Clean. The City of Gunnison has contracted with Mountain Clean for the past four years to perform janitorial services for City Hall and the City's community center known as Webster Hall. Mountain Clean has consistently been the low bidder on our janitorial services.

Overall, the City of Gunnison has been satisfied iwth the janitorial services provided by Pike Enterprises, Inc. The City recognizes the difficulty in finding and keeping janitorial service workers, particularly in a small town. Our community has a college student population that frequently fills these types of janitorial positions. Thus, we have seen a variety of service levels, excellent through unsatisfactory, from these individuals. When we have had problems with the level of cleaning quality, Mark Pike and his supervisory staff have been responsive to our concerns.

Mountain Clean has been able to provide us with professional carpet cleaning, tile cleaning and maintenance and window washing. They possess the knowledge and equipment necessary to provide these services, therby eliminating the need to further contract these services.

The City of Gunnison used to employ one person, as janitor, to clean City Hall and Webster Hall. When the janitor was sick or went on vacation it was difficult to find someone to cover the cleaning of our buildings. Therefore the City made the decision to privatize ou cleaning service. Mountain Clean with their number of employees, has the capacity to cover in these type of situations.

Mountain Clean is dependable. They do weekly inspections to make sure things are being done to our satisfaction.
